Lucky was diagnosed with non-verbal Autism. He learns new words, but it doesn’t always stick. When he learns new words, he almost always loses his old words and he struggles to use the words in context. I speak Afrikaans, Daddy and the kids all speak English, and when we moved to France, French was thrown into the mix.
Lucky really struggled with the French speaking children on the playground. I believe that Lucky is an extrovert, because he always approaches children on the playground and tries to play with them. Unfortunately, when they don’t understand what he would like them to do, he gets very frustrated and starts acting out.
Once everything gets too much for him, he would leave the playground to play alone in the gardens and greenhouse. This happens every day, and it breaks my heart. I want him to make friends, but he finds it so hard.
